In 1572 the Virgin miraculously appeared in a spring water in Caltagirone. The sanctuary construction, the role played by Jesuits and the popular devotion preserved the cult intact, and the water jug used to draw water - quartare in the local dialect - became a symbol of devotion for the Virgin. The aim of this contribution is to show how this devotional object made of terracotta and polychrome majolica represent a touristic-cultural itinerary, to discover beauty, memories and devotion of the local community and its skillful ceramists.
