Liguria is a region of long-standing industrialization and still plays an important role in Italy’s productive structure. Through the study, by questionnaires and interviews, of the fundamental features of 60 medium and large enterprises, a group of researchers at the University of Genoa and the University of Rome "Tor Vergata" have aimed at showing the characteristics of governance, management and organization that allow these enterprises to survive over time. The data collected during the research reveal the existence in Liguria of an up-todate entrepreneurial culture which is definitely not threatened by extinction. The authors point out that areas of long-standing industrialization may decline but do not necessarily come to an end.
