The article reflects on psychological intervention for young children from 18 months old, as part of a twenty-year project in the city of Turin about foster care, an alternative to the placement in a community structure. Children early remo- ved from their parents and placed in a foster family are forced to adapt to mul- tiple attachments in their lives: therefore, the risk of fragmentation appears real and dangerous. The psychologist’s work, both with the child and with the adults around him/her, is aimed at reducing this risk, through the reconstruction and narration of life events. The interventions described also include the use of con- crete tools, suitable for the age.
