In recent years, the theme of sustainable building and its certification has become central. This work describes an experimental research conducted in the drafting of the Itaca Regional Protocol and of the pilot projects evaluation. The research deepens the theme of the conditions of localization of interventions and of their insertion in the territorial context, to verify the actual relevance assigned to urban planning factors in the environmental certification process. The need for more adequate methods to address some critical aspects highlighted in the application phase of the research opens the way to further scientific investigations with the aim of integrating modalities of sustainability evaluation of transformations at the urban scale, as part of the urban planning and regeneration process.
