The continuous evolution of the market and the competitive environment more and more aggressive and dynamic led banks to use new performance measurement systems. In the past, banks measured their performance referring exclusively to the economic and financial dimension; now the attention paid to stakeholders led banks to measure other aspects such as: customer satisfaction, customer loyalty, quality of the products and services, skills and motivation of employees. These new dimensions are monitored in particular by cooperative credit banks, characterized by a strong reciprocal link with the territory. Among the most important tools to measure performance, a special role is assumed by the Balanced Scorecard (BSC), which perfectly matches with banking needs and it allows to assess the performance in four key perspectives.
