This article examines the ways in which collective trauma impacts subjective, intersubjective and plurisubjective spaces, as described by René Kaes. In particular, it discusses the transformation of the boundaries between these spaces in relation to traumatic situations that profoundly alter bonding functions at all levels, psychic, symbolic and relational, radically influencing both the capacity for individual representation and the very cultural process of recognising what it means to be human.

Keywords: collective trauma, representability, psychic bond, intersubjective spaces, the process of humanisation.
