After almost twenty years of collaboration in the Specialist Clinical Centers of the Academy of Family Psychotherapy of Rome, we intend to present the model of work with families with children and adolescents, overlapping and partly specific with respect to work with each of the two developmental phases. It will be described how over the years the first reception phase hastransformed, both in the work with families with children and with adolescents. Furthermore, the work tools used in the two therapeutic contexts will be suggested and a particular space will be dedicated to work “of” and “in” the network, especially with schools. Finally, following a reflection on family and social changes, clinical vignettes will be proposed to suggest the specificity of symptoms in children and adolescents.

Keywords: family therapy, children, teenagers, symptoms, changes, society.
