The paper provides a critical introduction to a specific homelessness policy called "Housing First". It illustrates the reasons that brought this policy to succeed internationally, and it also shows how through its global mobility the policy has not been immutable but it has adapted to the specificities of different contexts. The adaptation of Housing First posits relevant challenges both at the level of policy making (which relates to the model of intervention) and politics (which articulates different systems of thoughts). The aim of this work is to offer an analytical introduction to these challenges, in order both to appreciate the innovative stances of Housing First, and to support a critical reflection around its recent implementation in Italy.
