La ricezione e l'eredità di Hannah Arendt

The essay takes up the fundamental aspects of the debated fortune of a thinker whose life and intellectual undertaking is interwoven with the most obscure and tragic events of ’900, events which are interpreted with extraordinary depth of understanding and in an extremely up to date fashion in her works. Using a key which links life and thought, openly theorized by Hannah Arendt herself, the author, who has been one of her students at Cornell in 1965, shows how Arendt’s reading of the history of our time is extremely original because, on one side, is rooted in the Jewish and German philosophical tradition, and on the other, is independent from any school or cultural setting. For these reasons, Lafer concludes, not only Arendt has to be considered among the great philosophers of ’900, but the one who better than any other has produced and interpretation of it, becoming a true classical of the period.;
