Abstract. Since 2004 he is underway in Brazil the governmental program Bolsa Família which includes the provision of benefits in cash in favor of low-income families on condition that children and young people who are part attend school regularly and follow specific health plans. It is the most important conditional cash transfer in the world. In this text is presented a study in which it’s assessed the impact by examining the achievement of three expected outcomes: strengthening women’s empowerment and reduction of poverty and inequality. The sources used were the documents of the two leading research institutes in Brazil, the IPEA and IBGE, as well as specific research conducted by university professors and a sociological survey carried out by interviewing a group of women beneficiaries residing in Salvador da Bahia.
