This article analyses the 2024 German pension reform bill. It provides context information on the current structure and main characteristics of the German pension system and highlights the existing sources of financing. Subsequently, the 2024 pension reform project is presented in more detail. In addition to the main reform objectives, the focus is on the concept and the features of the new sovereign wealth fund, followed by a critical assessment of the expected impact on sustainability and intergenerational solidarity in the public pension system.
