The aim of the article is to analyse the living conditions of migrant workers in two different labour markets and geographical contexts that, despite their specifici-ties, present forms of exploitation, sometimes particularly extreme: agricultural labour in the greenhouses of Ragusa and food delivery in Milan. This is a quali-tative study based on in-depth interviews with workers, trade unionists and other key informants. The comparative analysis is developed along three closely related lines: (i) the correlations between market developments and the social composition of the la-bour force; (ii) recruitment patterns; and (iii) the link between work and health, i.e. the psycho-physical effects of employment and living conditions on migrant bodies. Interesting similarities emerge between the two fields, alongside counterintuitive divergences, enriching the academic debate on neoliberal capitalism's forms of subordination and exploitation and suggesting further and necessary research agendas.
Keywords: migrant labour; agriculture; food delivery; exploitation; psycho-physical health.
