This article exploits the information potential of administrative data on employment in the Veneto Region to provide a snapshot of how young people enter the regional labour mar- ket, with a particular focus on those with a migrant background; this component is strategic both in theoretical terms and in its actual contribution to the dynamics of the employment system. The questions posed are: how are employment opportunities of youth characterised in the light of their migratory background? To what extent does migration seniority favour more continuous and stable trajectories? What are the possible patterns of social mobility? This article first describes the regional context, highlighting its value as a “case study” in examining the evolution of immigrant labour participation; it then presents the methodolog- ical choices adopted and, finally, it describes the types of trajectories identified and investi- gates mobility opportunities for the immigrant component.
