freeeste freight hub, about ten kilometers from Trieste seaport and closely connected to the flows that from the ‘Adriatic Corridor’ extend towards northern Europe, is one of the examples of the inland infrastructural ‘dispersion’ of the port. Starting from the material dimension of its expansion trajectories, this article investigates the changes concerning not only the coastal areas, but also a space and a time that are extended and dilated with respect to the present. These changes place Trieste within broader flows of mutation and transit, and a long history of industrial and productive transformation.
