‘Around’, ‘Inside’, ‘Beyond’ are three strategies for the regeneration of the port of Civitanova Marche. This paper illustrates them offering reflections, both on the new city-port relationships the role of public space and the different ways of accessibility. The relationship between the port space and the city is explored considering the figure of the enclosure: by surrounding the perimeter, with an intrusion in the middle touching lightly the sea and, finally, overcoming the demarcation and totally investing the seafront. The three proposals are based on a comparative analysis, structured through qualitative criteria, and aimed at evaluating the objects, limits and potential of each hypothesis of intervention. From a methodological point of view, the evaluation system elaborates a verification mechanism of the three different alternatives useful for decision makers to define their own preference criteria.
