The use of the EMDR in many Family Therapy situations has effec-tively accelerated the resolution of several problems. The EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is defined by its same creator Francine Shapiro, as a method to access, process and bring to an adaptive resolution the memories of traumatic experiences, memo-ries that underlie the patient’s current psychological disorders. Below, we will present a clinical case of a family therapy focusing in particu-lar on a session in which, with the help of EMDR, we accompanied the mother of this family to process a trauma from the past, with the result of having a positive impact on the entire family system. What happened in a single session is surprising as this elaboration is generally ob-tained in much longer periods of psychotherapy: accelerating the elaboration processes with EMDR enhances the therapeutic process.

Keywords: EMDR, elaboration processes of trauma, family therapy.
