This text focuses on the analysis of the theoretical and methodological difficul-ties that the author has faced during the investigations carried out on the military since 2014. The document is divided into two parts. In the first it explains why the Colombian National Army is an institution that needs to be studied ethnograph-ically and, in the second, it addresses the difficulties encountered in doing so.
