By shifting the attention from the policies to the actual implementation of an areabased programme and its long-term impacts, the paper comes back to the Progetto Speciale Periferie of Turin, often portrayed as a paradigmatic example in the Italian panorama. Keywords: Public housing; urban regeneration; neighbourhoods; public policies; knowledge capital.
