The paper illustrates the first results of an exploratory research on educational innovation. In the field of research, in-depth interviews were carried out with uni-versity professors, which enabled the reconstruction of a definition of didactic in-novation which, although partial and provisional, is based on the experience gained in the professional field and takes into account the potential and limits of Italian academic context.
