The Second Edition of the Psychodynamic Diagnostic Manual (PDM-2), edited by Vittorio Lingiardi and Nancy McWilliams, published in 2017 in the United States and in 2018 in Italy, is presented. The six sections of PDM-2 (Adults; Adolescents; Childhood; Early Childhood; Elderly; Assessment instruments and clinical cases) are briefly described, and the main differences between PDM-1 and PDM-2 are highlighted (PDM-1 was published in 2006 in the United States and in 2008 in Italy). At the end of the article the main assessment instruments recommended by PDM-2 for each diagnosis are listed (a total of 200 instruments).
