The contribution investigates on the changes in utopian thinking intervened around the threshold of the second world conflict. In particular it questions whether in urban policies of the welfare state, which develop in the democratic states after the Second World War, it is possible to trace the permanence of a «utopian nucleus», defined in its general aspects by poetics and doctrines of modern urban planning between the 1920s and the1930s. Is it therefore possible to hypothesize a change of position of the utopia from the bonheur humain poetics to the welfare state policies?
