What role does the law play vis-à-vis the escalation of environmental emergencies whose dimensions and implications are highlighted in the Laudato si’ encyclical as more and more extreme and tangible? The legal expert considers the varied and contradictory legal scenario which reflects environmental measures having an international, domestic and EU origin. The relevant trends and critical aspects are explored. The main focus is on certains areas - the fight against climate changes, the safeguard of biodiversity, the protection of waters - about which the encyclical reserved much scope for reflection.
