In patients with neurological disorders often severe orthopedic deformities occur, due to muscle tone disorders, difficulties in controlling, incorrect postures that often get worse. There is therefore a need to implement rehabilitation and surgical treatments to prevent and to treat new orthopedic deformities and to improve the functionality of these patients. The author reports his experience on orthopedic surgery and treatment with baclofen pump, illustrating the various surgical techniques and stressing the need to assess carefully if an intervention is really necessary, in order to prevent further damage to the patient.
