The scenario in which is evolving the "social liability of enterprises" is very variegated. Indeed, the "social liability of enterprises" is started as an idea and then is turned into an intellectual opinion and into cultural and institutional initiatives, by enterprises, professional operators and groups, Agencies, Administrations, broad sectors of civil society, Governments and Parliaments. The social liability commits traders to assess- in a "sustainable development" - the effects of economic activities on target audience and environment, and to contribute in creating a social ethic: the "corporate body" - as in the anglo-american "formula" - is called to take awareness of the social dimension of development in which economic and collective needs is conflicting and comparing, and to contribute in protecting individual and collective rights and interests influenced by choices, behaviors and strategies of economic actions. The "social liability of enterprises" is one of the many possible answers to the gradual erosion of the welfare state, to the harms against the environment, to the creation of consumers needs, to the job insecurity, to the opacity of the contractual relationships, to the ungovernability of the markets globalization. This answer rests on the voluntary contribution of business operators and in a undefined space that goes beyond what is imposed by law.
