La formulazione di precise linee guida per il trattamento dei disturbi dissociativi è ostacolata dalla mancanza di una definizione condivisa di dissociazione. Esiste invece un accordo unanime tra gli esperti sul fatto che con il termine dissociazione vengono impropriamente raggruppate un vasto ed eterogeneo gruppo di manifestazioni psicopatologiche sostenute da processi patogenetici differenti che diffondono in tutti i quadri clinici psichiatrici complicandone il trattamento. Considerato questo limite la rassegna riporta le indicazioni per il trattamento di alcune manifestazioni dissociative della Blue Knot Foundation (2020) del Dipartimento della Salute del governo australiano e le indicazioni per il trattamento del Disturbo Dissociativo dell’Identità (DDI), ovvero il più grave disturbo dissociativo, redatte dall’International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation – ISSTD.
