In this paper, the authors offer some reflections on the musical nature of psychotherapy, in accordance with an aesthetic model of relational clinical practice, as applied to individuals, couples, and families. This model underlines the qualities of the rhythmic and musical aspects of intersubjective relationships, comparing the development of the clinical process to the characteristics of jazz music and to the relationship between musical execution and improvisation. A series of dialogues between "a father and a daughter" - inspired by the famous Bateson’s "metalogues" - enrich the content of the text.

Keywords: music, psychotherapy, aesthetics, improvisation, vital forms, contamination.
