The introjection of the distorted self-image that stems from the identification with the abusive parent generates the settlement in his own psychic system of an alien self that can have the characteristics of a self-saboteur, capable of attacking and undermining healthy achievements and relationships, both one’s own and others, trough destructive and self-destructive thoughts, narcissistic behaviors and attitudes of grand and angry nature. The analytical therapy is forced to face the patient’s hostility in the setting. To be effective, the analyst, in addition to understanding the patient’s unknown through the countertransference, pursues a constant effort to self-analysis to recognize and process his own "unanalyzed remains", that the therapeutic relationship brings out to develop the treatment and the relationship itself.

Keywords: Trauma; anger; alien self; analytic relationship; countertransference.
