The authors present a research on the experience of fatherhood in forced mi-gration implemented in Calabria. The issue of paternity has often been left out in the studies on transnational families until 2015 migration crisis. The focus of the most recent analysis on refugees’ fatherhood is usually on the barriers to the processes of fathers’social and economic inclusion and how these im-pact on fathering’ practices. The article aims to change the perspective of analysis, taking into account the processes of subjectivation of refugees’ fathers, highlighting how migration generates a peculiar awareness and questioning of paternity, involving hybrid and “emerging” forms of parenthood.
Keywords: fatherhood; forced migrations; parental practices; transnationalism.
