The chapter analyses how collusion between companies and organised crime undermines the trust relationship between employer and employee. The breach of trust, caused by affiliation with the mafia, takes various forms with different consequences, which also depend on the degree of awareness and on the employee’s role within the company. Since its origins, organised crime has been recruiting and dealing with workers as a way to build the social consensus needed for mafia organisations to expand. The relationship between employees and employers has become more articulate after the creation of mafia-affiliated companies and the regular involvement of professionals. These changes have strengthened apparent trust and mutual interest relationships.

Keywords: mafia-affiliated companies; workers; trust; organised crime; mafia.
