This work analyzes the patent production with special reference to Vicenza province. We observe that Vicenza province only follows Padua province in inventions and utility models, whereas it follows Padua and Treviso provinces regarding designs and ornamental models. We point out that the inventors are geographically situated in the same areas of traditional districts as well as the contents of the patents are usually coherent with the specific tradition of every territory. For example, the inventions and the utility models are concentrated in the meta-district of mechatronics, while the designs and the ornamental models are mainly collocated in the zones of golden-silvery and of tanning districts.
