Editorial (by Mario Cusinato) - ABSTRACT: A new project is proposed to launch the Journal into the national and inter-national publishing network following 12 years of issues circulated among researchers and students directly connected with the Interdepartmental Center of Family Studies of the University of Padua. Its main feature is interdisciplinarity, which requires methodological rigor and, at the same ti-me, the scientific humility to recognize that the family belongs to itself and needs credit for its originality and respect for its resources. The edi-torial team hopes to attract students and researchers interested in submit-ting their works for publication to be evaluated according to originality, methodological and scientific rigor, and respect for the individuals and fa-milies involved. The Journal will then become a qualified tool for scholars, researchers, professionals, social services providers and ‘active’ families. The first 2007 issue is a monograph featuring papers selected from those pre-sented at the national meeting Childfree: freedom from freedom for held in January 2007 at the University of Padua and has the task of laun-ching the new edition. The new project also includes a regular feature on the first approach to emergent family problems in order to stimulate future re-search and the hope is that it will become a special attraction for readers.;
