Open Access Green & Gold: the FrancoAngeli solution

FrancoAngeli Open Access is a platform for publishing research articles and monographs that adhere to ethical and quality standards, undergo blind peer review, and are made available in open access. In addition to ensuring repository in major international OA archives and repositories (such as DOAB - Directory of Open Access Books and OAPEN Library), integration with the entire rich catalog of FrancoAngeli journals and series, the platform maximizes visibility, promotes ease of search for the user and the possibility of impact for the author.

Open Access publications are based on two different types of Creative Commons licenses:

Creative Cmmons
Attribution - Noncommercial - No Derivative Works 4.0 International CC BY-NC-ND 4.0. This license allows third parties to download the works and share them with others, but does not allow any modification or reuse for commercial purposes.

Creative Commons
Attribution-No Derivative Works 4.0 International CC BY-ND 4.0. This license allows redistribution, commercial or otherwise, of the Work as long as it is transmitted whole and unchanged, giving credit to the Author. It may be an attractive solution for those who wish to reserve the right to later publish elsewhere, including in commercial form.

The Author will be able to decide whether to publish:

According to OA Green mode
The Publisher publishes the hard copy commercial version of the Work, of which the Author can self-archive a post-print digital copy in their institutional repository. Unlike the standard Green, in order to increase the visibility and impact of the research in the international scientific community, FrancoAngeli proposes a zero-month embargo and, therefore, proceeds in parallel with both the commercial publication and the Open Access digital publication (in which case only under a CC-BY-NC-ND license). As of now, the download of the Work will be available and freely accessible in our platform.

Or according to the OA Gold mode
The Publisher releases the Work in digital format only (with CC-BY-NC-ND or CC-BY-ND license). The download will be immediately available and freely accessible in our platform. The Author may then deposit the post-print version in their chosen repositories.

If the work is published under the OA Green mode

  • The print version of the work will be available for purchase on our website and on the websites of Ibs/Feltrinelli, University Bookstore, InMondadori, Hoepli, Amazon, etc., as through the Arianna database we provide the supply chain with all the latest information on the availability of each of our titles on a daily basis.

  • The digital version of the work will be freely downloadable in PDF version from our platform from the very moment of publication, without any embargo.

If the work is published under the OA Gold mode

  • The work will be freely downloadable in PDF version from our platform under Open Access Gold mode (golden way to open access) from the very moment of publication, without any embargo.

  • The metadata of the work - title, abstract, presentation, index - will be made available in a tab on Francoangeli.it and in the main Open Access archives.

  • The Author (researcher or institution) will have the right to deposit the files of the work (in both pre- and post-print versions) in the repositories of his/her choice as of now.
