Much of this second issue of Archives of Italian economic and business history is dedicated to Franco Bonelli, a scholar who made an invaluable contribution to understanding Italian economic development thanks to his studies in economic and business history.
A collection of essays by Amatori, Ciocca, Carparelli, D'Antone, Romanelli, Covino, Doria, Pino and Cerrito provides a thorough overview of the topics and research that characterize Bonelli's interpretation of Italian capitalism.
The issue also offers a variety of case studies on Italian management and entrepreneurship in the last century.
Marco Santillo presents an original research that focuses on the role of Giuseppe Cenzato, the leader of SME (Società Meridionale di Elettricità) and one of the key actors in the successful season of the electric power industry in southern Italy. Daniela Manetti offers readers a new chapter in the Italian cultural and creative industry with her portrait of Remigio Paone. This is followed by Veronica Binda's analysis of the corporate image of several important large enterprises during the decades of Italy's "economic miracle". Andrea Giuntini examines the key role of Pirelli in the field of submarine cable telegraphy, introducing the topic of Italy's "catching up" during the second industrial revolution between the 1880s and the 1920s.
The last essay by Cavazza and Scarpellini provides a series of reflections on some aspects that play a central role in the current historiography on Italian consumption in the 20th century.
