The first paper regarding Post-rationalist couple therapy co-authored by Vittorio F. Guidano and Maurizio Dodet was published in 1993 on Psicobiettivo. Since then the possibility to analyze and intervene on relational dynamics with a constructivist cognitive model has been thoroughly developed through clinical and research activity that widened to the fields of child neuropsychiatry, family and severe pathologies. The concepts of Self Meaning and Emotional Reciprocity allow to build hypothesis on the processes that underpin a significant relationship and therefore to create strategies and an interventional method for couple problems that reach a psychotherapist. In this article the author presents, through a clinical case, the state of the art of the postrationalist cognitive constructivist approach to relationship.
