In France, over the past decades, the evolution of the mode of production has had a fundamental impact on the quality of work. However, the link between new forms of work organization and malaise is not "mechanical". Rather than a "perversion" of management or to an intrinsic propensity of each of us to cause suffering to others, is to a new data in job relations (the increasing need of availability) that we’ve to attribute changes and questions about the quality of work. To show this, the essay is divided into three stages. A first part shows a general set on the recent developments of working conditions. A second part goes into detail on the links between new forms of work and psycho-social risks. The third part is based on the results of some empirical investigations to clarify the relationship between work and living conditions.
Keywords: Productive models, quality of work, changes in work organisation, psycho-social risks, quality of life, stress
