Endometriosis is a chronic disease that has a gynecological etiology and a wide variation in incidence, as well as extensive psychological and sexual repercussions. Dyspareunia is the most representative symptoms of the disease (found in about 40% of cases). In some women this symptom can produce a progressive withdrawal from sexual life. Often, women with endometriosis have, a "damaged" sexuality if compared to healthy women; despite this, they seem more satisfied about the affective and emotional support received from partner. In the treatment of this disorder, is not possible to refer to standardized protocols, as each clinical situation presents specific issues in relation to the life history of the patient, to her mode of interaction and her personality structure. The preparation and the sensitivity of the psycho-sexual therapist become very important in identifying the best management to build the right treatment for each patient.
